Hi, I'm Suzy recently diagnosed bipolar 2 and cyclothymic, just under going a major med swap from citalopram to venlafaxine, stopping quetiapine and using zopiclone for sleep and diazepam for any anxiety caused by the swap over. I've had Zopiclone before and have always had a brilliant nights sleep out of it but it's not working!! I take it at 10 and I'm wide awake at 1am and agitated. Sleep is of massive importance to me it's always one of my major triggers to an episode starting. I'm currently in a major depressive episode following 2 (serious) suicide attempts. I've suffered insommnia since I can remember so do the sensible things like no caffiene, peaceful room etc. Are there any other meds that might help? I loathed the quetiapie but I always slept well (and then some!) on it.

Peace and Light Suzy x

Hi and Welcome Suzy

I'm sorry that you are battling with your sleep right now, but all the med changes may be affecting your sleep and the new meds could take a while to work properly. If after a while you are still battling, go back to the doc and let him/her know. Have a look in the other meds room here as well, for help on start up side effects, also check out citalopram room for weaning off side effects.
