Hello,

I'm new to this forum and I might be new to Remeron...but I have some questions. Would you say the weight gain that comes with Remeron is attributed to cravings, or a change in metabolism...or both?

I'm wanting to come to my next doc appointment armed with as clear of a picture as I can about all of her proposed drugs. I'm sorta leaning toward letting her try me on Remeron, as appetite and weight gain wouldn't be such a bad thing for me.

My stomach is always the first thing to be affected in just about every situation. Emotional upset? Nausea. New prescription? Nausea. Feel too full? Nausea. Too hungry? Nausea. Roller coasters? Nausea.

Most recently, I tried Cymbalta and had to quit after 2 days because I couldn't eat anything without throwing up. Same thing happened on Zoloft. I've always been small and had a teeny appetite to match. Technically, in order to be a healthy BMI for my height I should gain 5 lbs. However...I have not had sudden weight loss associated with my depression and loss of appetite. It's just always been that way.

In this situation, could Remeron be beneficial where everything else I've had has failed?

Hi there!!
I have always had very little appetite but since I have been on Remeron I've started eating bigger quantities at regular intervals. Although the cravings stopped after about 2 weeks I maintained my eating habits by force. I have always been quite skinny and is very impressed with the 3 Kg I have picked up since starting Remeron.

Remeron however makes you pick up weight because you get cravings for sweet things etc. It only lasts a while though and then disappear. You can control it if you want to but in my case I am trying to squeeze the most out of the cravings! bow.gif
