I quite Remeron 45 mg cold turkey 10 days ago. I have been incapacitated with withdrawal symptoms for the last 4 days (severe nausea, severe fatigue, restlestness, anxiety, etc.) I realize in hindsight I should have tapered but here I am. The issues is
1. Do I stick it out - does anyone have a personal experience of how long should the above symptoms last?
2. If I go back to my original dose, how quickly should the withdrawal symptoms go away? I worry that since I have been off the med for 10 days now it will be like restarting from scratch.

(I do believe the anxiety is a discontinuation symptom, not a return of my original anxiety because my original anxiety was discovered to have been cause by a toxic amount thyroid hormone. Once fixed the anxiety went away even though I had been on Remeron for only 2 days.)

I want to return to being functional as quickly as possible. I would really appreciate feedback from anyone who has discontinued cold turkey or restarted after a 10 day or so interruption.

Thanks!

The only thing I would suggest is to call your doctor and ask him. You have gone 10 days so far but if you are having a lot of problems with the withdrawal symptoms maybe the doc has some advice on if you should have a small dose and then have you taper from there or if he will say you are through the worst and can continue as you are. I had a bad experience getting off Paxil one time so now I know to go by a pdoc's knowledge of how it should be done. Good luck to you!!!

I agree....ask your doctor.

Sounds like you are having a hard time so he/she may have something to suggest.

After a year on Remeron I am currently ramping down from 45mg as per my pdoc - 30 days on 30 mg then two weeks on 15.

Remeron did a wonderful job on my depression and lack of sleep at the time. I did pick up the ever-so-popular weight issue. I'm moving up to 300mg Wellubutrin from 200.

good luck !!
