My first week: My doctor prescribed me Bupropion 100 Mg. I took it for one day and noticed nothing. Then my roommates had some name brand wellbutrin Xl that they weren't using so I went ahead and took a 150 Mg XL the next day and I felt it for sure, but only for about 2 hours( an euphoric feeling). I explained this situation to my doctor and she went ahead and prescribed me the name brand. Furthermore, the next 3 weeks I took it every morning and would get the same response an euphoric feeling for 2 hours.

Week 3: I had a stimulant(adhd meds that are prescribed) binge to see if they worked again( i know VERY stupid). Which they didnt. Wont do that again. This may have messed with my results that im going for and may have set me back. I swear I'm not an addict, I'm just trying to get my meds to work so I can concentrate in school

Week 4: Day 1 I took 300 Mg and didn't feel anything not even the 2 hour euphoric feeling. Right now I'm on day 25 and I have increasingly been feeling like a zombie since. They don't call this stuff hellbutrin for nothing.

Also, day 9 completely off stims, and I still feel the fatigue of the withdrawals or whatever it is.
I will update this every once in awhile, and every week to maybe give people some insight on this drug after amphetamine induced depression.

Well week 5 is here and still no relieve, but I'm not going to give up. I'm having such a hard time sleeping. Started taking ativan for sleep. Still eating healthy and exercising everyday.
I rate this week 3/10. Going to the doctors tomorrow morning.

Seriously feeling hopeless.

Maybe i Have chronic fatigue syndrome ?

WEEK 6- One day when i woke up this week and took my med I noticed some sort calming feeling and it last about 2 hours and i went back to my normal depressed self. Next day nothing at all. I guess i'm scared my brain can only can tolerate this med for 2 hours. Has anyone else had this experience. For me the longest the med has done anything for me is two hours. = (

I tried meth a few times in my 20s, and I remember the withdrawals vividly. For me it was 3 days of the most intense depression I've ever experienced, and there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop it. It took a full week for me to feel like myself again. Meth is one of the most seductive and destructive substances on the planet.

I've been on 300mg Wellbutrin for about a year now, and it's been a big help. But it did take a full 8 weeks for me to adjust and stabilize on it. I had the same on-and-off experience as you during startup, and some of that euphoria, especially in the very beginning. It's a pretty common experience with Wellburtin. After a full 8 weeks, things should be a lot smoother, although some people need up to 12 weeks. I'm not sure how your previous meth addiction is affecting your present results, but I'm sure it's a big factor. You may need to go up to the 450mg maximum dose at some point, if your doctor approves. But I think it's best to give 300mg a chance first.

Take care, and keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the response wave.gif

I was on adderrall BTW

When you said you had the same on and off experience do you mean would experience something for 2 hours and then its was gone for the rest of the day?And was it only during the beginning stages you felt this? Yesterday I really thought it had finally started to working, but again 2 hours after the calming experience it went away?

Ohhh... your depression was induced by Adderall use? I didn't know that could happen. Makes sense though, since it's basically slow release amphetamine.

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean by on-and-off. I would feel it kick in at times, then give out. It took me a full 2 months to feel the effects consistently. Now I don't notice any major ups and downs. It's more of a steady lift. Not euphoria, just a gentle brightening effect on my mood.

I know how frustrating and discouraging the startup process can be, but try to be patient.

I'm having a similar experience.

I was taking Effexor and feeling like a zombie during the day, it was bad. I was prescribed a stimulant, Vyvanse (slow release adderal) that had me feeling exactly like I was on meth. Too strong for me, went to Concerta, which worked for a couple of weeks then stopped working.

I started a routine of Effexor and Bupropion, 150 mg each in the am. Effexor got rid of my depression, the Bupropion seems to have relieved my tiredness. The weird thing is that since Concerta wasn't working I was prescribed 10 mg amphetamine 3x daily, which has no effect, I mean, this stuff should have a very sharp, very noticable effect. Tried the extra Vyvanse I had laying around and NO effect (this stuff had me bouncing off the walls before the Effexor/wellbutrin). For some reason, on generic Wellbutrin, I don't get the euphoria and no stimulants have any effect on me. I may request the name brand the next time I refill the Rx and see if that is the difference.

Also, I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety starting the Effexor, I don't notice much effect from it, but I'm really really tired the next afternoon. Seems to do more harm than good.

I also have adderall induced depression which started about 3 years ago.. It was very bad but started taking lexapro about a year and a half ago and things got better. Still taking adderall for terrible adhd but a much lower dosage. Doctor just put me on 100mg of welbutrin (the generic kind) hcl er or something like that and so Ive been taking all 3 meds daily for about 6 weeks. I have not felt any different what so ever. And I also feel as if the adderall doesnt work at all anymore, not sure if thats in my head or what. Before when Id take it to study or something, I could definately feel more awake and concentrated. I swear I feel more tired now after taking it but like I said not sure if its in my head. Im going to wait it out and take it for another 6 weeks I guess and see if it gets any better. I dont feel any more motivated, in fact I feel less and also like a zombie, constantly tired. is this in my head? or can this happen?
