Since giving up alcohol my nights are filled with depression and lonliness. I know it's a good thing to give up beer but i have no companion whatsover. I've broken too many friendships around me to the point where i can't fix them anymore. I'm breaking down with guilt. My tablets work, just. I've got therapy tommorow, but this lonliness wont go. I'm so depressed, i feel so horrible.

Confusion, giving up the alcohol is a good thing and I'm glad you got therapy when you're feeling this way.  But how do you know you can't fix past freindships?  Have you tried?  I have found asking for for forgiveness for past misdeeds goes alomg way.  Just reach out to people.  You might be surprised! :)

Maybe you can get into a group therapy situation and see how other people get through these rough places in their lives.

Do you have any hobbies or activities that you can enjoy by yourself?

I'm proud of you, Confusion, for taking a difficult positive step! Hang in there - things will get better.
Let us know how your therapy session went.
I wish you well...

Congradulations on your sobriety. thumbs-up.gif I knew you could do it!

How do you know you can't fix your friendships? If you are pushing people away from you, of course you will be depressed and lonely. Going to a group therapy situation may help you with gaining or regaining friendships. You may also find a friend in the group. Afterall, the group will have depression, the same as you. The point of group therapy is learning how to support each other, just as we do here.

I hope your therapy appointment goes well. Does your tdoc know about your guilt and pushing away your friends? The tdoc knows you are depressed. Are you doing the work required to help yourself?
