The treatment of mental disorders is a personal trial and error process. Just because one person has severe headaches when they use Zoloft doesn't necessarily mean that if you take Zoloft YOU will have headaches too. Conversely, the fact that Paxil didn't work at all for one member does not mean that Paxil cannot be your success story.
Your wonder drug or combination of, will be discovered totally independent of what may or may not work for another individual. If one drug was the answer for everyone, then there would be only one drug on the market. We all react differently to different medications and varying dosages.
It may satisfy your curiosity to learn about other people's experiences, BUT this should never be the deciding factor as to what will work best for you. Sorry, it just doesn't work that way.

Sorry for perhaps a duplicate posting.

Just started neurontin ( love the name) a few days ago. I have I guess treatment resistant depression mostly and probably a good deal of anxiety than I care to admit too. Been awhile since have the gumption to try another med since I felt like I've tried them all sometimes with awful overcomes.

This is my third day on neurontin, I am feel very unfocused, slightly dizzy but calm and maybe a little more depressed. A quite a few years have passed since I've been through this but when would these first side effects dissapate?

Has anyone here had pretty positive results with neurontin and depression? I realize that these might come in a few weeks.

Thanks for any encouragement.

Thanks Marie

It can take a couple of weeks for anxiety symptoms to dissipate. If you give the medication a fair chance it might make your life better.

I've been on Neurontin/gabapentin (800mg 3 times/day) for years. For me, it is used to control the tremors associated with Parkinsonism and as a mild mood stabilizer (in combination with a stronger stabilizer). The FDA no longer approves Neurontin as a psychiatric medication. It's working well for both conditions.

Side-effects usually go away in about 2 weeks. If the SE's persist and affect your ability to function, contact your pdoc. Meds can take up to 8 weeks (maybe dose adjustments during that time) to receive full benefits.

Hi,

I take nuerontin as a mood stabilizer and for anxiety. It seems to do okay - it definitely helps me sleep
at night.

best wishes,
