The treatment of mental disorders is a personal trial and error process. Just because one person has severe headaches when they use Zoloft doesn't necessarily mean that if you take Zoloft YOU will have headaches too. Conversely, the fact that Paxil didn't work at all for one member does not mean that Paxil cannot be your success story.
Your wonder drug or combination of, will be discovered totally independent of what may or may not work for another individual. If one drug was the answer for everyone, then there would be only one drug on the market. We all react differently to different medications and varying dosages.
It may satisfy your curiosity to learn about other people's experiences, BUT this should never be the deciding factor as to what will work best for you. Sorry, it just doesn't work that way.

Lunesta wasn't working for me so my doc put me on Ambien CR to try that out..still has not helped much, but the last 4 days I have felt down/out of it..down and zoned out....Yesterday I was down and all emotional for no reason...this is after months of feeling better because of Wellbutrin..Do you think this is a side effect of Ambien or just a coincidence? I am on 450 MG of WB per day..Anyone else have any similar bad experiences on Ambien?

I think Ambient is called Stilnox in Europe. If this is the case, then here are some sideeffects I have witnessed while I was taking it.
The next day you were down. Really down. I don't know why but that's what was happening. OTOH you had a night's sleep so it was good because you did all that you had to do the next morning, and this was rewarding psychologically. But there was a feeling of being down that was caused by that drug.
It is also important, when you take it to go right to bed. If you stay up then funny things happen. You sort of loose your inhibitions and can do funny things, funny phonecalls. It is important to go to bed right after you take it, I think.
It can add to drowsiness the next day, a feeling of being a bit sleepy. And insomnia kicks in big time when you quit it, unfortunately. That has been my experience.
Once you're taking the drug for more than a couple of days though, the feeling of being down the next day kind of diminishes... or you don't notice it so much? I don't know.

Ambien can cause a lot of weird neurological effects since it is a sedative hypnotic. Ambien has been reported to have caused feelings of depression especially in already depressed patients. Also, feeling zoned out or disoriented is fairly common.

I thought I would also mention the Ambien sleep driving problem. People are getting up in the middle of the night and driving around. Some people get pulled over and charged for DUI. This is documented. A website known as Psych Central just posted an article on this.

Yup, look in the PI sheet. Depression is listed as a side effect. I cant take it. Besides feeling like I got hit with a sledgehammer the next day, it makes me depressed as heck. I do pretty good on lunesta.

The Ambien CR knocked my out too much, so I switched to the generic form (non-CR) and have been great. Really strong effect for about 4 hours, no grogginess or after effects. I can take it at 10 to get to sleep, or take it at midnight and it'll be worn off by 4 or 5 am, plenty of time for getting up and getting out the door. It's also incredibly cheaper.
