Does anyone else have this problem?? I'm only on day 3 and taken 5mg each day and I notice I don't get tired. And I've slept an average of 4 hours each night for the past few days. I wake up feeling not too bad though.

This is the main side effect i'm getting, plus lack of appetite and bit funny in the head with a pressure type headache.

I also had insomnia during the startup phase of Lexapro. It's worse when you take it in the evening. It usually fades away over the first few weeks.

I had insomnia before I started AD's, but all of them made the insomnia worse. Unfortunately, regardless of whether or not my depression is acting up and whether or not I am on AD's I still have to use ambien cr to sleep.

You might ask your doc to add something to help you sleep in the short term. Hopefully, you won't need it long term like I have.

That kind of side effect is typical when you are starting on a new medication. Try to give the medication a few weeks to work its way into your system, if it is tolerable. It will only get better from here. Have you been making lifestyle changes? A good diet, regular exercise, and a good sleep pattern are ways that you can help combat depression on your own. The pills will not do everything for you.

I am on day 4 of Lexapro (5mg) and am having insomnia badly too!
I wake up at 2am (go to bed at 10pm) with my mind racing horribly, can't fall back asleep.
I am wondering if I should take it in the morning.
I feel sleepy during the day as it is....

When I started on Lex, my Dr told me to take it at night but it caused insomnia for me, but that improved once I started taking it in the morning.

I've been on quite a few different ones and they have each had different effects. It is settling down now, I am managing to sleep, just awake alot later. I've only gone back on medication as I have reached a point again where I couldn't cope by myself.

I'm also on day 4, and my headache has gone at least. Just a little weird in the head. Looks like it'll get better from here though :)
