So I have noticed that the more negative topics I think about, the sadder I feel. How it took so long for me to realize this, particularly when I'd read it several years ago, I don't know. So I would like to try to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. About this part of the matter, the cognitive therapy books seem to be rather silent.

So, how exactly do I go about finding some positive thoughts? Can anyone suggest something positive for me to think about?

I walk every day and talk to people. They encourage me and I feel better getting outside. I volunteer 2 days a week at a local Senior Center and those people are wonderful to be around and they have helped me appreciate myself. I can't sit here all day thinking about myself. Helping people is what keeps me going. Six years ago, my Therapist recommended volunteering and it was the best thing I have done to be a happy person.

Hi Spinpsychle

There are many ways to think of positive things. Watching people doing strange things, the beauty of what is around us, like the weather, plants, tree's, animals, anything that would appeal to you. Positive uplifting music. Take a look in One Step At A Time on top of the watercooler, there are a lot of positives in there. There is a thread called everyday positivity, it may give you idea's and it may help if you join in the thread too.
