Hi everyone...
I got a few questions about medications and dealing with the exhaustion it slaps on me.I have been on the new medication now a month and it just kicks my a**.I am tired ALL the time, cept now at 4am. I take the meds at the same time, everyday, and am very faithfull to my schedule. Now i find at night  I cant sleep, but as soon as the sun comes up, out like a light i go. I cant function like i did even off the meds, and seriously thinking about giving up the medication entirely. I am sooo tired of bein a guniea pig.I dont want to have to try to treat this myself, but i am afraid that if i tell my doc whats happening they will screw with my meds again, and I can not take another psychedelic ride through my own insanity. I have tried coffee (which I totally hate btw) soda, moutain dew since it has the most caffene, all I do is yawn and go back to sleep. When I am awake I pace constantly. I literally wrote this pacing my living room.

So, IN YOUR OPINION ONLY, what would you do?

A.stop taking meds that worked, because they knock me out
B.tell my doctor and risk another month of adjusting to medication.
C. say to hell with it all and go fishing. I'll be napping in the car if anyone asks..lol

Thank you all for taking to the time to read and or respond!
James

B.  While you still have a sense on humor, talk to the doc.  Maybe it won't be as bad as you think. You can decide whether to listen to him or not.  Because you're sleeping in the daytime, he may have some idea about ways to readjust your meds so you are sleeping at night, as something you are taking is keeping you awake.  I have a med that I take as needed if my legs are bothering me, and I know that I'm going to be up till 2am if I take this late in the evening.  If you are pacing, it must be a tough ride!!

I'd really like "C", if it were under different circumstances.. :p  Night fishing?

Bring a baseball bat to get them off the hook, and I'll come along.  The only big cats I like are my two 20lb. house cats.

I'm having trouble with sleep, too, Caddon.  I feel like I could look for a job on midnights with the schedule I'm running.  The only problem is that the world runs on day shift at my house.  I'm awake creeping around till 2-3am, trying not to wake them up.     :(   I'd give anthing for a good nights', sleep.

Waking up in the morning feeling refreshed has not happened for me in a long time.  I'm trying to figure out what's happened medication-wise.  I was using a small dose of Ativan to help me sleep, and went off that after 4mo., which I usually do considering the addiction potential. I figured I might have trouble sleeping for a couple of weeks after I did this, but it seems like the problem is here to stay.      I'm on Cymbalta 60mg., and I'velooked for info is this produces insomnia, as I think it's the culprit.  So far, no luck in finding this on the net, but I keep looking.... It's a newer med., and there's not much floating around about it.

I found somnolence (sleepiness) and insomnia both listed as possible SEs of Cymbalta on RXlist.com. I know I haven't slept as well since taking it. And even when I do sleep, I'm exhausted during the day. Of course, some of that could be a fatigue flare-up from the fibromyalgia, too.
Wishing us all some good nights'  sleep_1.gif

I think i am going ot adjust my medication times. I am going to skip the morning and noon doses, just take the nightly dose and see if i can function. I am always a night time person anyhow, like you jkm, my house has to operate on day shift hours. Also, i have been waking up with convulsions the last two nights. I have not adjusted my meds yet though either.

I want to thank everyone who has answered this so far. Its coming down to not taking the meds if I am gonna sleep all the time, but i know i really need the meds too...
James

Sounds like your meds aren't covering you for your seizure disorder, but if you aren't sleeping, who knows what's triggering all this?  Are your symptoms relapsing?

JKM, I agree with you, the anti parkinsons (benzotrophene) and the benzos (xanax, klonopin) are not handleing my seizures. I cant afford to bring this to my docs attention cause they will take my drivers license and I HAVE to have my license. I dont drive often, but I have a Commercial license and those arent all that easy to come by anymore.
I did the adjustment, nothing until bedtime. I also took an ambien for sleep it did help but now i got terrible heartburn. I am sooo tired of the medicine merry go round, but i know I gotta have them or I am totally boned.
As far as my symptoms relapseing ....I guess kinda? I am not having the auditory hallucinations, but the visual kicked back in. I have been sick with strep throat and some flu like symptoms, I cant tell if they are actual flu (The doc says its from fooling around in them flood waters I copped some infection) but still, no antibiotics. I really dont know what to think at this point. I know I need meds, but I puke them up an hour after i take them from this flu crud. And I am not going at it the "other" way (you want me to put that WHERE?)LOL
