Is it true that Zoloft has never been proven to be more effective than placebo in males? Somebody told me today. He said, that Zoloft was proven to be more effective than placebo in females but not in males.
I am male and i think Zoloft helps me. oops.gif I am much better. oops.gif

Me too. Been on Zoloft for ten years now, and just when I thought it had pooped out, it once again brought me out of my latest (annual) episode, although it took somewhat longer to do so this time.

What I do recall reading somewhere is that, anecdotally, males seem to need higher doses of Zoloft than females. This probably explains why, in my case, I have had to gravitate up to the maximum recommended dose of 200 mg, where a female of my size and weight (I am not that big for a male) might likely be able to remain on a lower dose. It may be that, for some males, Zoloft is just not the right med., but for others like you and me, it can fit the bill.

Anyway, good to hear that you are doing better.

I've never heard that - it definitely works for me!

There are lots of skewed studies out there, and I have even read a study that was misinterpreted as saying placebos were as effective as SSRI's. After having convinced myself I didn't need meds, and consequently crashing despite my belief that I didn't need meds, I can say that they definitely are effective for me. I've proven that to myself the hard way, so I know they're more effective than placebos for me at least.....

Take care,
Dewayne
