Hi guys,

This is a question for the guys. Ive been suffering from depression for about 2 years now. I've had no luck with antidepressents in the past. One of my symptoms of the depression is a decreased sex drive. The pyschiatrist told me that once the depression lifted the sex drive would return to normal. Can anyone confirm this? Please tell me that those of you who have recovered from depression regained your sex drive. My sex drive used to be a 10 out of 10, now its about a 1 or 2.

I am starting on remeron today. What were your experiences, did your sex drive return to normal once the depression lifted? And how long did you have to stay on remeron before your sex drive returned?

I have good news for you.
Remeron is a sex booster.

I have been on Elavil for many years.
One of the side effects is decreased libido.

When I switched to Remeron I felt like a young man again.
Horny as a three-balled tomcat.

You will notice a big difference in a couple of days.

I've been on Remeron for about 3 months and it doesn't seem to have affected my sex drive. This and Wellbutrin seem to be the only depression/anxiety meds that haven't reduced my libido (Paxil and Cymbalta were among the worst). The only thing is, Remeron makes you sleepy (especially when you first start taking it), which obviously means you aren't going to be in the mood for sex. But it doesn't seem to have a direct effect on sex drive one way or the other.

Escitalopram (lexapro) lowered my sex drive but Mitz. (Remeron) brought it back to normal. I guess it improves sex drive.

Remeron is a good drug to try if your worried about sexual problems associated with ADs. it's the only one i've been on, other then welbutrin, that didn't plug me up so to speak. i've had that problem with other meds (ssri's) but not with remeron. Ive also read that it can be helpful in alleviating sexual syptoms assosiated with other meds and some enlighten doctors will prescribe remeron or welbutrin for that very reason. in my expirience, welbutrin was much more stimulating in that department. with remeron it just seems more natural. Hope that helps.

I'm guessing it would also depend on your doseage.

Lower doses have a sedentary effect. Higher doses and the reverse happens.

I've been on 15mg at night for two months and it helps me sleep (with 200mg seroquel mind you) and I'm asking my doc to increase my doseage today so I'll let everyone know what I think over the next few weeks.

Previously I was on Zoloft and my sex drive nearly completely disappeared. Already I have found an improvement on 'remeron' (avanza in australia) so i'm curious to see what the increased dose will do.

Still no problems here with my dose increased to 30mg (i'm also now on 300mg of Effexor). Drive is really good compared to Zoloft...
