Pristiq, an active metabolite of Effexor has been approved (may produce less side effects). Anyone planning on trying this? It should be available in pharmacies nationwide by May (although Doctor's may have samples before then).

If I were to sink back into a depressive phase I would definitely be interested in this. Effexor worked well before for me, so if this had similar effects with less side effects it would be worth a shot for me. Thanks for pointing out this new med thumbs-up.gif.

Heck yeah! If its a generic form i'll be all over it. Between my non-generic meds and my two sons non-generic meds, we have well over $100 in just those - not including the meds that we do have that are generic! I just hope it works. Is it a generic? Or just a new form of Effexor XR?

No it will be a brand or non-formulary drug and available in 50 and 100mg tablets. However, the Effexor XR will go generic within a year or two.
