I am suffering from severe depression. I was on lamictal-didn't work. They added Wellbutrin last week-75 MG of Generic boudin?. I am off work. I hate being off work, but I am not well. I cannot concentrate. I have suicidal ideations. I have socially withdrawn and have crying spells. Really, it's bad...worst I have been.

I need to get results fast. How long will it take to get me up to an effective dose if it has an effect at all? I have not had any improvement so far-been on for 7 days. My first 30 days of FMLA time is up on Friday. I don't want to be out for another 30 days. I am hoping being on a real antidepressant instead of a mood stabilizer will shake me out of this....:(

Hi Pittguy,

It really varies, but usually one increases their doses in one to two weekly allotments. I know I was on a full 300 mg. dose in about two weeks after I first started them. 75 mg. is a conservative starting dose, but your doc may have been concerned with your lamictal dosing too. So, these are issues you should address with your doctor. Most people start at 150 mg. and experience a honeymoon period which is followed by a down period before the final effect is reached. Again, ask your doctor, s/he would be the best source of information concerning your personal situation.

I hope you get all the info and help you need soon, but don't let yourself get caught having to have this all resolved immediately. It is your health that is involved here, give yourself all the time that is necessary to find all the correct answers. No matter how long it takes to find all the answers, once you are being properly cared for, you will be able to access and attain anything you dream about for your future.

BE Peace and BE Love.... wayne

I do not know if that dosing is because you are also on lamactil, however the usual dose of Wellbutrin is 300 mg. daily. The starting dose is often 150 mg daily.
