Although the following affirmations are for co-dependents, I have found them helpful for depression, too.

                  POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

               CO-DEPENDENTS ANONYMOUS 1988

Just for today, I will respect my own and others™ boundaries.

Just for today, I will be vulnerable with someone I trust.

Just for today, I will take one compliment and hold it in my heart for more than just a fleeting moment. I will let it nurture me.

Just for today, I will act in a way that I would admire in someone else.

I am a child of God.

I am a precious person.

I am a worthwhile person.

I am beautiful inside and outside.

I love myself unconditionally.

I can allow myself ample leisure time without feeling guilty.

I deserve to be loved by myself and others.

I am loved because I deserve love.

I am a child of God and I deserve love, peace, prosperity and serenity.

I forgive myself for hurting myself and others.

I forgive myself for letting others hurt me.

I forgive myself for accepting sex when I wanted love.

I am willing to accept love.

I am not alone. I am one with God and the universe.

I am whole and good.

I am capable of changing.

The pain that I might feel by remembering can™t be any worse than the pain I feel by knowing and not remembering.

I am enough.

Great thread, Sheepwoman. Thanks!

I'd just add for possible ''users'': first four affirmations would be stronger if ''will do/ be'' is turned into ''I do/ am'' (I will respect= I respect). Affirmations should indicate our desired state as such, not only intention. Just a thought though.

Leo,
I appreciate your input about the statements above. You are right about changing the words and agree with you. However, I could not change anything in the affirmations due to the authors.

Thanks for those, been beating myself up lately (in the emotional sense), "I love myself unconditionally" was the one that hit home for me, it's already relieved a little burden, thankyou :)

welcomeani.gif to DF, Obsessedmuch,
Glad to hear that these affirmations have helped you. Learning to love yourself unconditionally is difficult to do when you've been beating yourself up. Tell yourself that you are a good and worthy person, too.

Dear Sheepie

I deserve to be loved by myself and others.

I am loved because I deserve love.

I am a child of God and I deserve love, peace, prosperity and serenity.

I forgive myself for hurting myself and others.

I forgive myself for letting others hurt me.

As I read these, I shed many tears as I've been so cranky and tired in the past few weeks with people at work.  I will keep repeating them so that I can sleep and be strong enough to face a new day.  :1cat:

I am sooo glad I found this thread!

Reading those really encouraged me, especially this one "I deserve to be loved by myself and others."

I need to focus on how i do deserve love, I dont deserve to be belittled, and emotionally abused, etc

Even though its from an old SNL bit, this is true:

Sheepwoman...

I just printed this and plan to read this every day. I want to convince myself that all this is true and so many of these hit too close for me. Thanx much for sharing.
