Hello all,

I'm in the middle of having a conversation in chat about bullying in the work place. I thought this to be a very important topic to bring up and i'm not sure whether or not it has been posted before.

I have been victim to bullying myself on a couple of occasions myself and from people who should know better.....ie : Managers.

Obviously the first thing to do is to make the person aware of how they are making you feel. It may be the case that they are not aware that they are upsetting you....some people don't realise when they are being tactless!

In the case of the bully being a fellow colleague.....never be scared to approach your manager or superior about it....as they will know how best to handle the situation.

Failing this or if the bully is the manager his/her self.....Then take the complaint to the next level of authority...be it senior management....company director.....HR department or Head office.....Or even better if your job has a trade union...go to them...they will know how best to deal with it.

Right onto how to deal with this bullying! boxing.gif

The best thing to do is to keep a diary of everything that is said or done to make you feel uncomfortable! Making sure to include dates and times and any other individuals who were present at the time. confused-read.gif

Another useful method that i used when a manager flatly denied my accusation was to use a dictaphone (or any recording device) to record the bullying to back up other evidence.

And never be afraid to ask for back up from other employees....as you are probably not the only victim. console.gif

Hope this helps in some way....but obviously if it gets out of hand seek proper legal help....and there's always the trusty internet to help inform you of the best way to handle this! coophelp.gif

Thank you for posting this MrSnappy.

I will keep this in mind next time I talk to my boss, who is a royal you-know-what. If it doesn't go well this time, I will contact Human Resources and have them sit in on our next meeting!

Take care,
