Hi all. Well I had been taking 1/2 of a 5 mg pill of lexapro for about 9 months. I just stopped taking them on Feb 1st. I just didnt feel like I needed them anymore and I would like to get pregnant soon also. Anyway, I have heard about all the weird withdrawal symptoms, like the lightheadedness/dizzines, or head spins. I really dont know what to call them! Its just weird. I really didnt think Id have any withdrawal symptoms since I was on such a low dose but I guess I was wrong! Anyway, this probably started about a week ago, when I was sick. At first I thought it might be due to being sick or having a sinus infection possibly but now I am over that and I am still feeling this way. Its really frustrating. Whenever I am just walking around I feel like this. I cant even imagine how Id feel if I had been on a higher dose! Anyway, for those of you who have gone off of lexapro, how long do these withdrawal symptoms last? Its been 16 days now since I stopped so Im hoping this will go away soon! I just want to feel normal again. Anyway, thanks everyone for your help!

Hey, Jen. I'm sorry you're experiencing side effects. You're probably one of those people who is very sensitive to meds, which is why such a low dose worked for you in the first place--if you were a tough old bird like me, 2.5 mg probably wouldn't make any difference, LOL! I know the "zooms" are disturbing but trust me, it WILL go away. I didn't keep a diary last time I went off Lexapro so I can't remember exactly how long it took--I just remember that it happened less and less until I finally "noticed" that they were gone. I'm thinking maybe 3-4 weeks total? I'm just guessing.

I hope you continue to feel good after going of the Lex, Jen. Wishing the best for you!

I've been tapering off Lexapro from 40mg, now I am down to 10mg for the next week, then I will be off. At the same time, my pdoc has put me on Cymbalta. I have experienced the head zaps, nausea and fatigue, but hopefully all of that will dissapate as the Cymbalta gets upped and the Lexapro goes down.

To the OP, have you experienced any bone pain coming off Lexapro? I have had times in the last couple of days where my skeleton felt like it literally ached.

Just a question - good luck with your tapering!

EQ--I can't remember any bone pain last time I went off Lexapro, but if there's one thing I'm learning it's that the withdrawal and startup side effects can be different for everyone. I think "aches" are listed as one of the side effects on the med fact sheet. Hope it goes away soon for you!
