About Us

What is the Depression Forum Team?

We are a group of individuals, both male and female, who help to moderate the Forums. Each of us has a personal reason for volunteering and giving of ourselves for a depression-based forum because each of us are either personally affected or recovering from a depressive illness or we have a loved one dealing with such an illness.

We have between 10 - 15 members who function as VOLUNTEER Moderators on the team. They help us by being our eyes and ears during the daily running of the Forums. Very little would be accomplished without such a great group of members. All of us together compromise the Forum Admin Team.
Please keep in mind that we are not a professional medical website, we do not have doctors on staff.

Each of us knows the system very well and we each have access to moderation functions and features. With our other responsibilities, we all come and go as time allows. We all have the authority to handle problems individually when appropriate. At other times, we will conference among the whole team when required.
The makeup of the moderation team is always subject to change as requirements dictate.
This "TEAM" is fluid and its membership may not be constant. We agreed that it served no positive purpose to make those changes public since such changes will NOT affect the functionality of the Administration of this Forum.
The Super Administration though shall always stay the same.

Most, if not all decisions, are discussed and carried out with the consent of the entire team. We may vary in size, the number of Moderators and members may come and go, but our functions on the board will continue to be carried out with consistency and without interruption.
The administrative function will continue seamlessly and consistently no matter who is available at any given moment.

Depression Forums.org is a community support website soley dedicated to Depression and Mental Health. The content of the Forums, for the most part, is written by our members' and is not edited under normal circumstances. If the content of a members' post violates our Terms Of Service, (TOS), then it is edited by our volunteer staff, (moderators), to remove the offending content, or in extreme cases, the post may be removed entirely.

Depression Forums, Incorporated supplies up to date consumer depression and mental health information for our members.
DF's content is submitted by the Administration who have no affiliations with drug companies, using a combination of news sources.

All Articles on Depression Forums, Incorporated are reviewed by one or more Forum Administrators' before being placed on the Portal or Forums.
Content is verified using various internet news sources.
The Forum Super Administrator (Lindsay) and Managing Director (LGJ) and Forum Admin are responsible for validating all editorial content of the news items, (which we do), that is put on the portal and forum pages. Our moderators and the entire Administration Team at DF are responsible for editing members topics and posts on the forums as time permits.

Revision Dates, Authoritive Information and Sources are published at the end of each article. All articles include the latest updates.

Depression Forums, Incorporated is run by a volunteer staff, none of whom are medical professionals.
Any information available on Depression Forums is for informational purposes only and the accuracy of such information cannot be guaranteed.

Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review every message or confirm the validity of all information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages posted by members. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message posted. It is virtually impossible for us to see and review every post as it gets posted on the Forum.

The posts express the views of the author who posted the message, not necessarily the views of this Forum or any person or entity associated with this Forum. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by clicking on the " Report this post to a moderator" at the bottom of a post or by sending a PM to Forum Admin. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is warranted.

This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
These Forums are not run by a full time paid staff, but by a team of volunteers who come and go as their schedules permit. We are not professionals and cannot provide or be a substitute in place of health care professionals.

Depressionforums.org contributions, subscriptions and third party advertisements are used solely to help pay for our domains, hardware, software and various costs in running this website.
To make up the shortfall, Depressionforums.org accepts ads from advertising agencies. These advertising agencies sell our ad space and pay DF directly. They make their money by dealing with the large pharma companies directly and selling ad space on many health sites, DF included.
If you look at the larger sites you will notice similar ads. If you do not wish to see the ads, you may take out a subscription for a nominal price.
We appreciate your understanding and wish you all the very best, as we know you do DF.
